Also the price of a 2tb HDD is $60, a 4tb is $90, while a 5tb is $100 right now. With a 5tb hard drive I estimate you would be lucky to get about half of the best games backed up in ISO format. This is because the playstation 3 has ~ 1090 games (at least on disk in North America according to List Challenges). I have to say I would recommend at least a 5tb hard drive as most likely the best option for large game library storage or even small game storage. I did try using MagnaGunZ file manager and it does work as expected (it is slow though), other iris based managers may work as well. I think that is what the reddit poster I linked to was referring to. However, I wasn’t able to browse the drive with Multiman file explorer on either drive (it does not show an attached storage drive). I can confirm the drive does work with Multiman, Webman Mod, Irisman, and MagnaGunZ as a game loader without the need for prep ISO. I did the same formatting process as above. I returned the 4TB and my 5TB drive! You’ve got to love Amazon sometimes! Yet again, I’m glad to say it works!
Then I was thinking, “Why didn’t I just get the 5TB drive?” So I did. You can try that if you don't see the option. I wasn't able to test the two partitions method with this tool, but I don't see the point if it works as a full drive.Įdit (note) tested this and mentioned they had to run WD Quick Formatter in Windows 7 compatibility to get the "Windows XP compatibility" option. Really simple compared to the 8tb example above or the two partition idea. I selected Windows XP compatibility and ok. Windows XP compatibility or Vista and later. The WD Quick Formatting tool only gives two options to format. Update: I got my 4tb hard drive 3 weeks ago! I'm glad to say it DID work great! (Foreshadowing)
#Wd my book 3tb xp how to
I have many other questions like how to batch install game updates and quick install methods, but I'll just end it here with my storage questions for now.
#Wd my book 3tb xp manual
Is it better to leave files in folders for manual install or creating an extra folder for each game? I want to get everything set up so I can play any game at any time without having to install updates, DLC, or mess with anything else in the future, besides maybe adding a few more games.

I'm also wondering about the game update and DLC storage. I assume it would show up as 2 HDD's? Would it be better to get 2 2tb drives? Also what drives do I get? I heard that it is possible to take a 4tb drive and make 2 NTFS partitions for the games. I know there is limits of 2tb, and there are fat32 and NTFS options respectively to folder or ISO games. While the external will be for the folder or ISO games. I'm thinking of leaving internal storage for some pkg games, save files, game updates, and DLC installs. I need to get external storage, but I wanted to check with some experts first before buying anything. I'm trying to figure out the best way to manage everything. I have a little over 2tb of games mostly in JB folder format and a handful of smaller PKG games. HI, I just got up and running on my CFW PS3.
